چکیده

When analyzing linear systems of equations, the most important indicator of potential instability is the condition number of the matrix. For a convolution matrix W formed from a series w (where Wij wi-, + ,, 1 5 i j + 1 5 k , W,j = 0 otherwise), this condition number defines the stabirity of the deconvolution process. For the larger convolution matrices commonly encountered in practice, direct computation of the condition number (e.g., by singular value decomposition) would be extremely time consuming. However, for convolution matrices, an upper bound for the condition number is defined by the ratio of the maximum to the minimum values of the amplitude spectrum of w. This bound is infinite for any series w with a zero value in its amplitude spectrum; although for certain such series, the actual condition number for W may in fact be relatively small. In this paper we give a new simple derivation of the upper bound and present a means of defining the rate of growth of the condition number of W for a bandlimited series by means of the higher order derivatives of the amplitude spectrum of w at its zeros. The rate of growth is shown to be proportional to m p , where m is the column dimension of Wand p is the order of the zero of the amplitude spectrum. -

Numerical resolution of large deflections in cantilever beams by Bernstein spectral method and a convolution quadrature.

The mathematical modeling of the large deflections for the cantilever beams leads to a nonlinear differential equation with the mixed boundary conditions. Different numerical methods have been implemented by various authors for such problems. In this paper, two novel numerical techniques are investigated for the numerical simulation of the problem. The first is based on a spectral method utiliz...

From a Chemical Matrix to Biologically/Biomechanically-Defined Matrices-Optimizing/Correlating Growth Rate and Differentiation Potential of Human Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Use of Adipose Stem Cells (ADSCs), obtained easily in a relatively less invasive manner (abdominoplasty) and characterized by flow cytometry, is a classical approach in stem cell research and clinical aspects. Other techniques such as isolation of the cells from bone marrow aspirates  (1) are rather more invasive. Further, it is pertinent to point out that growth rate, differentiatio...

Inverse Young inequality in quaternion matrices

Inverse Young inequality asserts that if $nu >1$, then $|zw|ge nu|z|^{frac{1}{nu}}+(1-nu)|w|^{frac{1}{1-nu}}$, for all complex numbers $z$ and $w$, and equality holds if and only if $|z|^{frac{1}{nu}}=|w|^{frac{1}{1-nu}}$. In this paper the complex representation of quaternion matrices is applied to establish the inverse Young inequality for matrices of quaternions. Moreover, a necessary and ...

On the nonnegative inverse eigenvalue problem of traditional matrices

In this paper, at first for a given set of real or complex numbers $sigma$ with nonnegative summation, we introduce some special conditions that with them there is no nonnegative tridiagonal matrix in which $sigma$ is its spectrum. In continue we present some conditions for existence such nonnegative tridiagonal matrices.

Effects of Sowing Season and Cultivation Methods on Seedling Emergence, Survivor Rate and Growth of Astragalus flexilepes L. in Rangelands of Kermanshah Province, Iran

One of the fundamental difficulties in Iranian rangelands is the existence of wide area of poor condition rangelands that their grazing capability is low due to continuous livestock grazing pressure. Astragalus flexilipes is one of the palatable plant species of rangelands in Iran, while its distribution is being decreased due to improper grazing. The aim of this study was to ...
